Fractures
Fractures a bone that has been cracked or has been caused to break. Broken or Fractured bones can be caused by accidents, falls, or being hit by something.
What to do when you see someone with a break or fracture;
Keep the patient still and do not let them move the joint or bone that is injured. If there is any bleeding, try to control it and dress the wound. A broken or fractured bone should never be straightened or moved from its current position. Call triple zero 000 for an ambulance. If able to then the fracture should be given support and raised to slow the swelling and blood flow. A splint or Sling may be made if the equipment is available, but it is not necessary. Now a cold pack or anything cold should be applied the inflamed area. The patient should not eat or drink anything until seen by a doctor. After 48 hours if still untreated then a heat pack should be applied instead of a cold pack.
